Best Photo – Promising Future: The complete Digital Photography Library from Scott Kelby himself. The winner of this item will be limited to those in the earlier stages of learning photography.

The deadline to win is Tuesday the 25th of August. The winning photos will be chosen and the winners will receive what is listed above.

We were unable to get an official count but estimate 65 in attendance tonight at MoPhotoWalk 2009. Photos are already beginning to show up in the Flickr group. The Modesto Bee has already posted a video from tonight’s event. Thank you to everybody who came out. This event was a hit because so many great people gathered in one place to share a passion.

If I could add one tip for all of you uploading photos to the Flickr Group. Title or tag your photos with “mophotowalk” and “modesto”. This will make it easier for people to search the photos.

Over the next week we will be doing some behind the photo interviews with the photographers of a few of the images you see in the Flickr group. I hope to have them explain the process of capturing it, share some settings they used and what they did to edit the photo.

Tonight is the night! The photo walk begins at 7pm. We will be there around 6:30 if you would like to hang out before the photo walk begins. Over the last week some exciting things have happened, lets recap:

1. The Modesto Bee published a story about the photo walk: Read it here
2. Many people tweeted about the photo walk, some of which include: @moondogphoto, @malbeans, @modestotweetup, @ablackonamac, @marcoabella, @lloydgomez, @modestobuzz, @llightner and so many more.
3. The Modesto Bee called me and said they wanted to publish the top 3 photos taken in the newspaper and on their website.
4. Over 80 people have officially signed up!

5. More local pro photographers have came on board to help share camera love with all of us.
6. Over 90 say they are attending and 155 say they are maybe attending on Facebook… What the? View it
7. Our Flickr Group is live! Make sure to post your best photos from tonight in the Flickr group. We will be taking the top 3 images and sending them to the Modesto Bee to publish. This is a great opportunity to get recognized!
8. I required more Starbucks than usual…

Tonight is going to be a great time combined with a bit of chaos. 80+ cameras and people in one spot, should be very interesting. Make sure you register if you have not already. Names from the registration list are entered to win prizes from our local businesses who have kindly donated and sponsored this event.

With only 2 days left until our first Photo Walk I thought it would be a great time to share our plans for the walk as well as a few other small announcements.

First of all, if everybody could make sure they register by clicking the “Register” link in the menu above that would be great. The reason for this is that we have over $1500 in give-a-ways and special offers for all in attendance.

At 7pm we will begin our photo walk. We will leave from The State Theater at 1307 J. Street. The downtown Art Walk begins at 5pm. If you want to arrive early, we will begin gathering in front of The State Theater at 6:30pm.

A Google Map of the photo walk is available for you to view. We will be stopping at a few landmark locations in downtown Modesto. The landmarks will be photo opportunities as well as everything in between.

The great thing about having so many people walking around together is the different perspectives each of us will have.

We suggest that you bring your camera, batteries, a notepad for the photoshop training and a sweater in case it gets cool. You are also welcome to bring your laptop if you wish to follow along with the Photoshop training.

Photoshop & Lightroom Tips & Tricks @ The State Theater

At 8:30 we will meet back at The State Theater. It has been arranged so that we have the entire State Theater auditorium to hang out, talk photography and play with Photoshop. We have some give-a-ways which will be given out during this time as well as some special offers from a few local businesses for each person in attendance.

At 9:30 we will end the Photo Walk. The State Theater has allowed us time to hang out in the lobby until 10pm.
